It appears that the Prices were her a family from an early age, as two of her children list her maiden name as Price. So Annettiie apparently thought of herself as a Price, too. But her parents are listed on her death record as Grafton Hanson and mother's maiden name of Pearson. Annetti H Bushong, "Ohio, Death Index, 1908-1932, 1938-1944, and 1958-2007"

John William Atlee Long had the following marriages:
In 1881 married Ellen Roxanne Candler, in McMinn, Tennessee,
after her death in 1901, he married Ellen HUMPHREYS in 1903 in Anderson, Tennessee. Ellen Humphreys Long died in 1904.
In 1912 he married Olive Ola Townsend.

Phyllis Long Rhodes sent the following family data to me. It was sent to her several years ago.

"It came from a family book written about some of the Long's from Isaac Long's branch. He was the son of Rev. George W. Long 1 and Nancy Elizabeth 'Maples' Long. Also Isaac was a younger brother to my great great grandfather, Maples Long.

William Reynolds Long, my great great grandfahter was born in 1819. He was the first son of James Wright Long and Nancy Reynolds ten children. He grew up on this farm in McMinn County and when he was young went to Athens and under a man named Issac Lowe, learned to be a tanner and finisher of leather but had to forsake all to follow a greater calling. At the age of 22 he felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to preach. There were no Methodist preachers or churches at that time in the county. Because his mother was a Methodist he brought a preacher and his famiy and located them to hear him preach. He opened the doors of his dwelling house for the people and the gospel. In warm weather the house could not hold the congregation so services were held under the white oak trees near the big spring. He called his neighbors together and they went with their axe to cut round logs to build what was called 'Longs' meeting house.' After worshiping there for several years the church was moved to a school house on Wesleyanna Hill.

Just before William Reynolds Long was ordained as an elder by the Methodist Holston Conference, he married Sarah Elizabeth Atlee of Athens, in 1847. Twelve children were born to them and their mother. Sarah Elizabeth, my gg grandmother was fitly compared to Susanna Wesley. My grandfahter, William Atlee Long was their fifth child and was my mother's father. He became an attorney in Athens and served as State Representative at one time. One of his brothers was a missionary to Japan, two of his brothers were doctors and some of his sisters were school teachers. One sister was a fine seamstress.

Great Great Grandmother Long saw to it that all of her children got as good an education as possible. She wrote each of them many beautiful and inspriring letters. Great Great Grandfather, was an itinerant preacher and traveled by horseback to several little churches in East Tennessee. She would accompany him sometimes on his preaching circuit. It was said that she wrote his sermons and he preached them.

My grandfather, William Atlee Long married Ellen Ross [Roxanne] Candler of Ashville, N. C. Five children were born to them, my mother, Elizabeth Maude, being the oldest. She married Samuel Gilbert King in 1910. They had three daughters. I am Helen, the oldest, the second died in infancey and Ernestine is the youngest. I married Harold Lee Hayes in 1927. Our family includes two sons and
a daughter. My husband died in 1981. Ernestine married Samuel Lloyd Dodson and resides in Madison, Mississippi. They have no children.

Several members of the Long family are buried in Athens Cedar Grove Cemetery and in the Weslleyanna Cemetery.
Submitted by Helen King Hayes, Etowah, Tennessee.
