Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28... from the Stinson Funeral home for Harvey McClellen Bushong, of Midland County, who died at his farm home February 25, 1947. The Rev. Francis E. Voller will officiate with Stinsons in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant MI. Mr. Bushong was born March 30, 1886, in Paulding County, Ohio. He came to Mt. Pleasant when fourteen years of age, and had resided in this vicinity since that time. Surviving are his wife, Edith; children, Elmer of Mt. Pleasant MI, Marie Burr of Midland County MI, Gladys Burr of Mt. Pleasant MI, Lloyd of Lansing MI, Burton of Mt. Pleasant MI, Marvel Searight of Coleman MI, Earl of Midland County MI, Donald Girven of Mt. Pleasant MI, Edith Bushong of Midland County MI. A brother, Harry of Mt. Pleasant MI and a sister, Bertha Robinson of this city, also survive.

In the past it was thought that Neal might be a twin and that he had a sister Haleverette, but in looking at the document, the "N" is scribbled and looks kind of like an "H" hence the mistake.

OBITUARY – Kearney H. Bushong
Marshall MI – Kearney H. Bushong, 72, of 19735 D Drive S. (Route 1, Eckford Township), died this morning, Wednesday, June 5, 1968 in Oaklawn Hospital where he had been a patient 11 weeks. He had been in poor health two years.
Mr. Bushong was born Oct. 31, 1895, in Ridgeway, Logan County, Ohio, a son of Ezram B. and Sarah (Evans) Bushong. The family went to the vicinity of Pellston MI when he was three years old.
On Oct. 14, 1917, he was married in Harbor Springs to Della B. Radle of that village. They resided for four and one-half years in Mt Pleasant and moved to the Marshall MI area in 1922. They have resided at Wilder Creek the last 45 years.
Mr. Bushong retired in 1961 after 36 years of work at the Marshall Iron and Metal Company.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Beatrice) O'Dell of Homer, Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Tobias of Albion, and Mrs. Lawrence (Myona) Lapland of Marshall; three sons, Clarence E. Bushong of Marshall, Otto C. (Connie) of Homer, and Craig B. of Homer; 28 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Another son, Aviation Machinist, Kearney David Bushong, 22, was killed in April 1943 near Lompoc, Santa Barbara Co., CA in a Navy blimp mishap.

Laura Belle Lyon

July 17, 1930 -- January 17, 2013

Laura Belle Lyon, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Woodland Hospice near Mt. Pleasant. Laura was born on July 17, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Charlie and Mamie (Bushong) Sheldon. Laura married Kenneth Kyser, who preceded her in death in 1962, and then married Leo Lyon, who preceded her in death in 1975.

Laura enjoyed being with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed going to the casino, word search puzzles, sewing and making crafts. She lived most of her life in the Mt. Pleasant area. For over twenty years, Laura owned and operated an adult foster care home called Lyon AFC.

Survivors include her children: Danny and Velma Kyser of Mt. Pleasant, Kenna and Earl Dennis of Perrinton, Larry and Cynthia Kyser of Ashley, Joanna and Rick Telfor of Alma, Ida and William Gordon of Mt. Pleasant, Elaine Lloyd and her partner Patricia Padilla of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kimberly and Mike Makela of Mt. Pleasant. Laura is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, along with brothers Evert and Jill Sheldon of Fowler and Edward and Elaine Sheldon of Ohio, along with sisters Betty Ryckman of Vestaburg, Margaret and Jerry Miller of Indiana and Annabelle Sheldon of Mt. Pleasant. Laura was preceded in death by her two husbands, two sons, a grandson, a granddaughter, a great granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.

A service celebrating Laura’s life will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Miller officiating. Following the funeral service, interment will take place in Chippewa Township Cemetery between her two husbands. Friends are invited to gather with the family on Sunday, January 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to a charity of your choice. Mary E. Parks, age 84, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service Monday at 3 p.m. with visitation starting at 1 p.m. until time of service at the Berry Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be in Chippewa Twp. Cemetery.
Mary was born April 8, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant to Charles and Mamie (Bushong) Sheldon. She married Paul Hyde, February 27, 1949, he preceded her in death in 1978. She then married Darrell Parks on July 8, 1983 in Shepherd. Mary was inducted into the Mt. Pleasant Bowling Hall of Fame in 1985. She had operated a beauty shop in her home for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Parks; two sons, Michael C. Hyde of Mt. Pleasant and Jeffery P. (Amy) Parks of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; several step-children and step-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Ryckman, Laura Lyon, Annabelle Sheldon, Margie (Jerry) Miller; two brothers, Evert (Jill) Sheldon and Ed (Elaine) Sheldon.
She is preceded in death by her first husband; one sister; and two brothers.
Memorials may be given to Woodland Hospice.

General Notes:
They were married by a Rev. Sage at the Hoytville United Brethren Parsonage.
After completing the eighth grade, Bessie passed the "Boxwell" examination required for
entering Normal School where she earned her teacher's certificate. She taught country schools
several years until her marriage. After marriage, they lived on a farm near North Baltimore. Bessie
became ill with T.B. and died shortly after the birth of their fourth child. She is buried in Maplewood
Cemetery, North Baltimore. Ray was a graduate of North Baltimore High School.
Ray E. Bushong and Bessie Verna Foltz were married on 05 Jun 1916. They had the following
